
Second District Commander Tatjana Savoy
Tatjana Savoy has served as the commander of the Metropolitan Police Department’s Second District, located in the Northwest quadrant of the District of Columbia, since November 2023, when she was promoted to the position by Chief of Police Pamela A. Smith.
Savoy began her MPD career in 2002 as a patrol officer in the Seventh District, where her assignments included the Vice Squad and the Auto Theft Unit. Assigned later to the Washington Area Vehicle Enforcement Task Force (WAVE) in the Police Department’s Special Investigation Branch, Savoy worked with federal and local agencies in pursuit of suspects operating stolen vehicles across jurisdictions.
Rising through the ranks, Savoy was promoted to captain in the First District in 2021 and led the Nightlife Task Force, which worked to reduce crime, improve public safety, engage the community, and enhance public confidence in the H Street, Northeast, corridor.
Savoy has worked in neighborhoods in every quadrant of the city, from Historic Anacostia, Capitol Hill, Foggy Bottom, and Georgetown, to Lamond/Riggs Petworth, and the Downtown Business District, earning achievement medals, unit citations, and other awards and commendations along the way. Savoy holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology and criminal justice from Bowie State University.
