Pursuant to requirements in the Fiscal Year 2023 Budget Support Act of 2022, MPD is providing the following information related to its staffing and budget.
The below information on disciplinary actions includes sustained misconduct investigations referred to MPD’s Disciplinary Review Division that resulted in adverse action in 2023. Adverse actions include any fine, suspension, removal from service, or reduction in rank or pay.
On Friday, September 20, 2024, at approximately 11:00 pm, Mr. James Gripper, Jr. was shot and killed in the 4500 block of Quarles Street, NE. The Metropolitan Police Department seeks the public’s assistance in gathering information regarding this homicide.
On Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at approximately 6:57 pm, Mr. Kwesi Miller was shot and killed in the 5000 block of H Street, SE. The Metropolitan Police Department seeks the public’s assistance in gathering information regarding this homicide.
On Sunday, September 15, 2024, at approximately 8:25 am, Mr. James Price was shot and killed in the 400 block of 50th Street, NE. The Metropolitan Police Department seeks the public’s assistance in gathering information regarding this homicide.
On Saturday, September 14, 2024, at approximately 1:42 am, Mr. Erik Mewborn was shot and killed in the 2200 block of Adams Place, NE. The Metropolitan Police Department seeks the public’s assistance in gathering information regarding this homicide.
On Sunday, September 15, 2024, at approximately 11:20 pm, Mr. David Washington was shot and killed in the 2300 block of Marion Barry Avenue, SE. The Metropolitan Police Department seeks the public’s assistance in gathering information regarding this homicide.
Pursuant to the Comprehensive Policing and Justice Reform Amendment Act of 2022, effective April 21, 2023 (D.C. Act 24-781), the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) is required to publish data on its overtime spending.
