MPD Makes O Street Assault Arrest

 

The Metropolitan Police Department announces the arrest of a suspect following an assault with a dangerous weapon that occurred in Northwest.


On Monday, October 5, 2026, at approximately 10:36 p.m., Third District officers were flagged down in the 200 block of O Street, Northwest, by a teenage male victim who had been stabbed. DC Fire and EMS responded to the scene and treated the victim for his wounds.


The investigation revealed that a verbal dispute between the victim and the suspect escalated when the suspect assaulted the victim with a knife. The victim fled from the suspect following the assault and flagged down officers. During a canvass of the area, officers quickly located the suspect and placed her under arrest without incident. A search of the suspect’s belongings, conducted incident to arrest, revealed property items that had been reported stolen.


43-year-old Soanay Balsinde, of no fixed address, was charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Knife) and Misdemeanor Receiving Stolen Property.
