Traffic Fatality: Intersection of Madison Avenue and Kansas Avenue, Northwest

Detectives with the Metropolitan Police Department’s Major Crash Investigations Unit are investigating a traffic fatality involving a vehicle and motorcycle that occurred on Wednesday, October 2, 2019, in the intersection of Madison Avenue and Kansas Avenue, Northwest.

 

At approximately 7:54 am, a Triumph motorcycle was traveling northeast bound on Kansas Avenue, NW. A Nissan Rogue was traveling east bound on Madison Avenue, NW. The SUV entered the intersection of Kansas Avenue and Madison Avenue, NW and pulled into the path of the motorcycle. The motorcycle struck the SUV in the front passenger door of the SUV. The SUV was then redirected and struck a Ford truck that was waiting, at the stop sign facing west on Madison Avenue, NW. The impact caused the operator of the Triumph to be ejected. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported the operator of the motorcycle to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the Nissan Rouge was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

 

The decedent has been identified as 28 year-old Oliver Romain, of Highland, MD.
