MPD’s Weekly Firearm Recoveries: September 23, 2019 to September 30, 2019

Every day, the Metropolitan Police Department works to recover and investigate illegal firearms in Washington D.C. In addition to our patrol officers, the Department has specialized units—such as the Gun Recovery Unit (GRU), Narcotics Enforcement Unit (NEU), and Crime Suppression Teams (CSTs)—who work tirelessly to safely and respectfully secure illegal firearms and get them off of our streets. From Monday, September 23, 2019, through Monday, September 30, 2019, MPD detectives and officers recovered 33 firearms in the District of Columbia.

Tuesday, September 24, 2019

  • A Glock 21 .45 caliber handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 4500 block of Quarles Street, Northeast. CCN: 19-170-304

 

 

 

  • A North American Arms Richardson Derringer .25 caliber revolver was recovered in the 400 block of 4th Street, Southwest.  CCN: 19-170-310

 

  • A Smith & Wesson .38 caliber revolver was recovered in the 2500 block of 14th Street, Northeast.  The following person was arrested: 21-year-old Amia Sadalah, of Northeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Unlawful Possession Ammunition, and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm.  CCN: 19-170-773

 

  • A Kel-tec P11 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 3300 block of Minnesota Avenue, Southeast.  The following person was arrested: 27-year-old Deangelo Evens, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License and Parole Violation.  CCN: 19-170-712

  • A Glock 23 .40 caliber handgun and a FNH USA FNX-40 .40 caliber handgun (both pictured below) were recovered in the 500 block of Edgewood Street, Northeast.  CCN: 19-171-121

 

  

 

  • A Berretta 1934 .380 caliber handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 2400 block of Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue, Southeast.  The following person was arrested: 19-year-old Kareem Howard, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Possession of an Unregistered Firearm.  CCN: 19-171-229

 

 

 

  • A Glock 37 .45 caliber handgun was recovered in the 4900 block of Central Avenue, Northeast.  The following person was arrested: 37-year-old Anqoine Jerome Chambers, of Northeast, D.C., for Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Destruction of Property.  CCN: 19-171-091

  • A Dan Wesson Arms .357 caliber revolver (pictured below) was recovered in the 200 block of Savannah Street, Southeast.  The following people were arrested: 33-year-old Antonio Javon Johnson, of Southeast, D.C., 27-year-old Dominique Peterson, of Northeast, D.C., and 31-year-old Allen Brown, of Northwest, D.C., for Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm.  CCN: 19-171-893

 

 

 

 

  • A Smith & Wesson M&P Shield .45 caliber handgun was recovered in the 3000 block of 14th Street, Northwest.  The following person was arrested: 20-year-old Jonathan Markel Groom, of Northwest, D.C., for Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Failure to Register Firearm, Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance, Possession of Implements of a Crime, and Receiving Stolen Property.  CCN: 19-171-562

  • A Smith & Wesson M&P Shield 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 2800 block of 14th Street, Northwest.  The following people were arrested: 31-year-old Latoya Evans, of Northwest, D.C., and 32-year-old William Devon Boykin, of Hyattsville, MD, for Felon in Possession, Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Obstructing Justice.  CCN: 19-171-921

 

  • A Ruger LCR .22 caliber revolver was recovered in the 100 block of Yuma Street, Southeast.  The following person was arrested: 22-year-old Tyree Young, of Southeast, D.C., for Felon in Possession, Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Receiving Stolen Property and Unlawful Discharge of a Firearm.   • A Smith & Wesson M&P Shield .380 caliber handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 3500 block of Ames Street, Northeast.  The following people were arrested: 42-year-old Jovan Andre Hill, of Hyattsville, MD, and 44-year-old Christopher Jones, of Northeast, D.C., for Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance.  CCN: 19-172-933

  • A Hi-Point C 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 4300 block of Halley Terrace, Southeast.  The following person was arrested: 48-year-old Jerry Jerome Barton, of Southeast, D.C., for first Degree Sexual Assault, Carrying a Pistol without a License, Obliterate, Remove, Change, or Alter the Serial Number of the Firearm, and Possession of Unregistered Ammunition.  CCN: 19-173-411

 

  • A Smith & Wesson .40 caliber handgun was recovered in the 1200 block of North Capitol Street, Northwest.  The following person was arrested: 26-year-old Denzel Boyd, of Northwest, D.C., for Distribution of a Controlled Substance, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance, Carrying a Pistol without a License, Felon in Possession, Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Resisting Arrest.  CCN: 19-173-855

  • A Smith & Wesson 9VE 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the Unit block of O Street, Northwest.  The following person was arrested: 20-year-old Kabir Bilal, of Northwest, D.C., for Receiving Stolen Property, Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Receiving Stolen Property, Resisting Arrest, and Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance.  CCN: 19-174-477

 

  • A Taurus PT111 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 3600 block of Benning Road, Northeast.  The following person was arrested: 25-year-old Tavion Antonio Hoskins, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, and Possession of Unregistered Ammunition.  CCN: 19-174-557

 

  • A Glock 43 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the Unit block of Massachusetts Avenue, Northeast.  CCN: 19-174-434

 

It is one of MPD’s main goals to safely remove illegal firearms from DC streets to reduce crime and the fear of crime in the community. The responsibility to recover firearms falls on the -shoulders of all MPD officers. We also thank members of the community for their help in creating safe neighborhoods.

 

The Metropolitan Police Department also recovers firearms with the assistance of anonymous tips made through MPD’s anonymous tip line. Anyone who has information regarding gun recoveries should call police at 202-727-9099. Additionally, information July be submitted to the TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411. The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $2,500 to anyone who provides information that leads to the recovery of an illegal firearm hidden in the District of Columbia.
