MPD’s Weekly Firearm Recoveries: August 12, 2019 to August 19, 2019

Every day, the Metropolitan Police Department works to recover and investigate illegal firearms in Washington D.C. In addition to our patrol officers, the Department has specialized units—such as the Gun Recovery Unit (GRU), Narcotics Enforcement Unit (NEU), and Crime Suppression Teams (CSTs)—who work tirelessly to safely and respectfully secure illegal firearms and get them off of our streets. From Monday, August 12, 2019, through Monday, August 19, 2019, MPD detectives and officers recovered 33 firearms in the District of Columbia.

Tuesday, August 13, 2019

• A Glock 22 .40 caliber handgun was recovered in the 3300 block of Wheeler Road, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 21-year-old Davon Johnson, of Southeast, D.C., for Felon in Possession. CCN: 19-143-116

 

Wednesday, August 14, 2019

• A Beretta 85 Cheetah .380 caliber handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 4300 block of Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 17-year-old juvenile male, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License. CCN: 19-143-715

 

 

• A Glock 17 9mm caliber handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 200 block of W Street, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 26-year-old Demann Kenneth Shelton, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Felon in Possession, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, and Unlawful Entry. • A Smith & Wesson .38 caliber revolver was recovered in the 800 block of P Street, Northwest. CCN: 19-143-619

 

• A Tower Japanese Replica Flintlock .69 caliber handgun was recovered in the 2000 block of Park Road, Northwest. CCN: 19-143-727

 

• A Glock 17 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 1100 block of 51^st Street, Northeast. CCN: 19-143-759

 

• A Glock 23 .40 caliber handgun was recovered in the 1000 block 17^th Place, Northeast. The following person was arrested: 34-year-old Felton Pierce, of Northeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device. • A 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the Unit block of Darrington Street, Southwest. CCN: 19-143-824

 

• An Umarex XBG 4.5mm BB gun was recovered in the 1800 block of 7^th Street, Northwest. The following person was arrested: 16-year-old juvenile male, of Alexandria, VA, for Possession of a BB gun. CCN: 19-143-802

 

Thursday, August 15, 2019

• A Glock 19 9mm caliber handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 4200 block of Edson Place, Northeast. CCN: 19-144-496

 

 

• A Raven P-25 .25 caliber handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 2800 block of Q Street, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 25-year-old Brian Alexander Bridgeforth, of Carrying a Dangerous Weapon and Possession of an Unregistered Firearm. CCN: 19-144-540

 

 

 

• A CZ P09 9mm caliber handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 4600 block of Benning Road, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 20-year-old Deondre Chase, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device. • A Ruger P89DC 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 1300 block of 5^th Street, Northeast. The following person was arrested: 29-year-old Charles Earl Proctor, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Felon in Possession, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device. • A Hi-Point C9 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 4600 block of Hillside Road, Southeast. The following people were arrested: 31-year-old KJ Lavell Lester, of Southeast, D.C., and 51-year-old Michelle Anita Phifer, of Northeast, D.C., for Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Receiving Stolen Property, Possession of a Prohibited Weapon, Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance while Armed, and Felon in Possession. • A Glock 27 .40 caliber handgun was recovered in the 500 block of 16^th Street, Northeast. The following person was arrested: 27-year-old Jarall Thompson, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Felon in Possession, Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance while Armed, Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device, Possession of Unregistered Firearm, and Possession of Unregistered Ammunition. The following people were arrested: 23-year-old Khalil Jones, of Southeast, D.C., 21-year-old Darius Anderson, of Southeast, D.C., and 27-year-old Anton Scott Thomas, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device, National firearms Act, Possession of Unregistered Firearm, and Possession of Unregistered Ammunition. The following person was arrested: 41-year-old Torrell O’Neal Page, of Northeast, D.C., for Felon in Possession, Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, and Resisting Arrest. • A Walther PPK-S .380 caliber handgun and a Kimber STS 9mm caliber handgun were recovered in the 4300 block of Anacostia Avenue, Northeast. The following people were arrested: 18-year-old Kenneth Coleman, of Northeast, D.C., and 20-year-old Anton Brown, of Northeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Felon in Possession, and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition. • An ATI Firepower Xtreme: Titan 1911 .45 caliber handgun was recovered in the 2200 block of 14^th Street, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 32-year-old Christopher Lee Myrant, of Oxon Hill, MD, for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance while Armed, Possession of an Open Container of Alcohol. • A Ruger 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 2200 block of Channing Street, Northeast. The following people were arrested: 22-year-old Brandon Wiggins, of Northeast, D.C., and 24-year-old Darnell Lee Knight, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, and Leaving after Colliding. It is one of MPD’s main goals to safely remove illegal firearms from DC streets to reduce crime and the fear of crime in the community. The responsibility to recover firearms falls on the -shoulders of all MPD officers. We also thank members of the community for their help in creating safe neighborhoods.

 

The Metropolitan Police Department also recovers firearms with the assistance of anonymous tips made through MPD’s anonymous tip line. Anyone who has information regarding gun recoveries should call police at 202-727-9099. Additionally, information July be submitted to the TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411. The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $2,500 to anyone who provides information that leads to the recovery of an illegal firearm hidden in the District of Columbia.
