MPD’s Weekly Firearm Recoveries: September 9, 2019 to September 16, 2019

Every day, the Metropolitan Police Department works to recover and investigate illegal firearms in Washington D.C. In addition to our patrol officers, the Department has specialized units—such as the Gun Recovery Unit (GRU), Narcotics Enforcement Unit (NEU), and Crime Suppression Teams (CSTs)—who work tirelessly to safely and respectfully secure illegal firearms and get them off of our streets. From Monday, September 9, 2019, through Monday, September 16, 2019, MPD detectives and officers recovered 34 firearms in the District of Columbia.

Tuesday, September 10, 2019

• A Glock 31 .357 caliber handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 2200 block of Savannah Terrace, Southeast. CCN: 19-159-897

 

 

• A Colt 80 .45 caliber handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 1500 block of First Street, Southwest. The following person was arrested: 25-year-old Jamaal Shell, of Northeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License. CCN: 19-161-281

 

 

• A Glock 23 .40 caliber handgun was recovered in the 400 block of W Street, Northwest. The following person was arrested: 20-year-old Dresean Davis, of Northwest, D.C., for Simple Assault, Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, ad Receiving Stolen Property. • A Rohm GMBH Sontheim-Brenz RG10S .22 caliber revolver was recovered in the 3900 block of Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 17-year-old male juvenile, of Southwest, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, and Resisting Arrest. CCN: 19-161-240

 

• An Electric Airsoft BB gun was recovered in the 800 block of 22^nd Street, Northwest. CCN: 19-160-919

 

Wednesday, September 11, 2019

• A Taurus PT111G2 9mm caliber handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 4400 block of Falls Terrace, Southeast. CCN: 19-162-074

 

 

• An Armroro-Rossi .22 caliber revolver was recovered in the 700 block of Kennedy Street, Northeast. CCN: 19-161-790

 

• An Amadeo Rossi .38 caliber revolver was recovered in the Unit block of M Street, Northeast. The following person was arrested: 19-year-old Nelson Ballard, of Northeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle. CCN: 19-161-938

 

• A Mossberg 590M 12 gauge shotgun was recovered in the 1300 block of Okie Street, Northeast. The following person was arrested: 33-year-old Olivier Christopher McLeod, of Northeast, D.C., for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Transportation of a Firearm, and Possession of Unregistered Ammunition. Thursday, September 12, 2019

• A Springfield Armory XD-9 9mm caliber handgun with laser sight and a Glock 19 9mm caliber handgun with laser sight (both pictured below) were recovered in the 600 block of Mellon Street, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 18-year-old Patrick Woodard, or Northwest, D.C., for Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device, and Possession of a Controlled Substance. • A Smith & Wesson M&P Shield .40 caliber handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 2300 block of Hartford Street, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 16-year-old male juvenile, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Possession of a Controlled Substance. The following person was arrested: 21-year-old Amon Sutton, of Northeast, D.C., for Assault on a Police Officer, Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, and Carrying a Pistol without a License. • A Glock 23 .40 caliber handgun was recovered in the 5100 block of F Street, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 32-year-old Dennis Byrd, Jr., of Southeast, D.C., for Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, and D8ischarging Firearms. • An Argentine FM Hi Power 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 1600 block of Benning Road, Northeast. The following person arrested: 42-year-old Johnny Victor Beason, of Northwest, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Felon in Possession, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device. The following person was arrested: 25-year-old Nicholas Scott, of Southeast, D.C., for Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance, Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device. • A Taurus Millennium PT111 G2 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 2200 block of 6^th Street, Northwest. The following person was arrested: 20-year-old Jonathan Markel Groom, of Northwest, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Possession of a Controlled Substance. • A XBG BB gun was recovered in the 3100 block of Park Place, Northwest. The following person was arrested: 39-year-old Stephen Oliver Hart, of Northwest, D.C., for Possession of a BB gun and Threat to Kidnap or Injure a Person. CCN: 19-164-185

• A Sig Sauer P-250 handgun was recovered in the Unit block of O Street, Northwest. The following person was arrested: 22-year-old Anthony Develle Davis, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, and Resisting Arrest. • A Bersa Piccola Thunder 380 .380 caliber handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 1200 block of Sumner Road, Southeast. CCN: 19-164-737

Monday, September 16, 2019

• A F.I.E Titan .25 caliber handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 5000 block of B Street, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 30-year-old Rubin Bordeaux, of Northeast, D.C., for Felon in Possession, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Possession of a Controlled Substance. CCN: 19-165-521

 

 

• A Glock 27 .40 caliber handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 4200 block of Foote Street, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 20-year-old Suneverlasting Hall, of Northwest, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Unlawful Possession of Firearm, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device. CCN: 19-165-537

 

 

• A Glock 19 BB gun was recovered in the 400 block of 7^th Street, Northwest. CCN: 19-165-077

 

 

It is one of MPD’s main goals to safely remove illegal firearms from DC streets to reduce crime and the fear of crime in the community. The responsibility to recover firearms falls on the -shoulders of all MPD officers. We also thank members of the community for their help in creating safe neighborhoods.

 

The Metropolitan Police Department also recovers firearms with the assistance of anonymous tips made through MPD’s anonymous tip line. Anyone who has information regarding gun recoveries should call police at 202-727-9099. Additionally, information July be submitted to the TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411. The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $2,500 to anyone who provides information that leads to the recovery of an illegal firearm hidden in the District of Columbia.
