MPD’s Weekly Firearm Recoveries: May 6, 2019 to May 13, 2019

Every day, the Metropolitan Police Department works to recover and investigate illegal firearms in Washington D.C. In addition to our patrol officers, the Department has specialized units—such as the Gun Recovery Unit (GRU), Criminal Interdiction Unit (CIU), and Crime Suppression Teams (CSTs)—who work tirelessly to safely and respectfully secure illegal firearms and get them off of our streets. From Monday, May 6, 2019, through Monday, May 13, 2019, MPD detectives and officers recovered 46 firearms in the District of Columbia.

  • An Astra Firecat .25mm handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 3300 block of 14th Place, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 15-year-old juvenile, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm.   • A Smith & Wesson M&P .40 caliber handgun was recovered in the 1100 block of Pennsylvania Avenue, Northwest. The following person was arrested: 49-year-old Lee McCartney, of Norristown, PA, for Possession of an Unregistered Firearm and Possession of Unregistered Ammunition. CCN: 19-078-278

 

  • A Walther PPQ .9mm caliber handgun and a Smith & Wesson .9mm caliber handgun were recovered in the 4300 block of 12th Street, Southeast. The following people were arrested: 17-year-old juvenile, of Southeast, D.C. and 19-year-old Delvon Hill, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Receiving Stolen Property, Leaving after Colliding, Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle, Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Destruction of Property.   • A Davis Industries P-380 .380 caliber handgun and a Glock 23 .40 caliber handgun were recovered in the 1300 block of Columbia Road, Northeast. The following person was arrested: 34-year-old Samantha Lavetta Washington, of Northwest, D.C., for Possession of an Unregistered Firearm and Possession of Unregistered Ammunition.   • An Astra Cub .22 caliber handgun was recovered in the 3300 block of C Street, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 19-year-old Carlos Wilson, of northwest, D.C., for Felon in Possession, Carrying a Pistol without a License, Failure to Obey an Officer, and Possession with Intent to Distribute.   • A SAR Arm BGP .9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 600 block of Morton Street, Northwest. The following person was arrested: 18-year-old Rosche Thames, of Northwest, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Resisting Arrest, Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, and Receiving Stolen Property.   • A Taurus Millennium G2 .9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 500 block of Decatur Street, Northwest. The following person was arrested: 23-year-old Darryl Jackson, of Northeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Allow Operation with Improper Tags, Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device, Carrying a Loaded Firearm in a Vehicle, Bench Warrant, fugitive from Justice, and No Permit.   • A Kel-Tec P3AT .380 caliber handgun was recovered in the 1000 block of 17th Street, Northeast.   • A Glock 23 .40 caliber handgun and a Glock 22 .40 caliber handgun were recovered in the 1900 block of Connecticut Avenue, Northwest. The following people were arrested: 23 year-old Jabari Malik Hood, of Chesapeake, VA, and 22-year-old Adrian Nichols Smith, of Portsmouth, VA, for Carrying a Pistol without a License.   • An Anderson Manufacturing AM-15 .223/5.56 caliber rifle and a Davis Industries Derringer 0-32 .32 caliber handgun were recovered in the 500 block of Nicholson Street, Northeast. The following person was arrested: 25-year-old Henry Braxton Fasion, of Northeast, D.C., for Possession of a Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device.   • A Colt Defender .177 caliber BB gun, a Beeman 500 series .177 caliber BB air rifle, a Crossman 766 .177 caliber BB air rifle, a Hatsan MOD95 SAS .22 caliber BB air rifle, Stag Arm BB air rifle, a 1008 Repeat Air BB gun, a Winchester BB gun, a Walther BB gun, a Daisy Heddon BB gun, a HK MP5K BB air rifle, a Desert Eagle Magnum Research BB gun, a Daisy Heddon BB gun, a Daisy Heddon BB gun, a Walther P99 BB gun, a Daisy 2003 Heddon BB gun, a Parabellum SOF BB gun, and a Glock 19 BB gun were recovered in the 3600 block of 16th Street, Northwest. It is one of MPD’s main goals to safely remove illegal firearms from DC streets to reduce crime and the fear of crime in the community. The responsibility to recover firearms falls on the -shoulders of all MPD officers. We also thank members of the community for their help in creating safe neighborhoods.

 

The Metropolitan Police Department also recovers firearms with the assistance of anonymous tips made through MPD’s anonymous tip line. Anyone who has information regarding gun recoveries should call police at 202-727-9099. Additionally, information may be submitted to the TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411. The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $2,500 to anyone who provides information that leads to the recovery of an illegal firearm hidden in the District of Columbia.
