Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Fifth District and Agents from the FBI’s Washington Field Office announce an arrest has been made in reference to an Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun) and an Armed Carjacking offense that occurred on Sunday, July 21, 2019, in the 2700 block of 22ndStreet, Northeast.
At approximately 7:41 am, the suspect attempted to enter a victim’s vehicle. The victim confronted the suspect, at which time the suspect brandished a handgun and assaulted the victim. The suspect then fled the scene and approached a second victim in her vehicle. The suspect brandished a handgun and demanded the second victim’s vehicle. A third victim attempted to intervene when the suspect shot the third victim. The suspect then fled in the second victim’s vehicle. The first and third victims sustained non-life threatening injuries and were transported to local area hospitals for treatment.

On Wednesday, August 7, 2019, pursuant to a US District Court arrest warrant, members of the Sixth District Crime Suppression Team arrested 21 year-old Antwann Carter, of Northwest, DC. He has been charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun) and Armed Carjacking (Gun).
