Friday, July 25, 2025

The Metropolitan Police Department has concluded an extensive search for 73-year-old Frankie Jones Sr. and Prince George’s County Police are now conducting a death investigation after Mr. Jones’ remains were located in Oxon Run Park in Prince George’s County, Maryland.

On Tuesday, June 24, 2025, Jones was reported missing by family members. Jones was last seen leaving his residence in Southwest, DC.

Following the report, Jones was listed as a Critical Missing Person by MPD’s Missing Person Unit and a flier with his image was disseminated to the public. An extensive search was conducted in the surrounding area over the coming weeks, including multiple canvasses and the use of MPD’s drone.

On Monday, July 21, 2025, human remains were located during a canvass of a wooded area in Oxon Hill, Maryland, just across from the DC line. The remains were transported to the Maryland Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, where the remains were positively identified as 73-year-old Frankie Jones Sr. This case remains an active Death Investigation as the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner works to determine the cause and manner of death. No foul play is suspected.
