Pursuant to the Secure DC Omnibus Emergency Amendment Act of 2024, effective March 11, 2024 (D.C. Act 25-410), the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) reports data related to firearm recoveries in the District of Columbia. The data presented below is provided by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and reflects primarily MPD firearm recoveries. However, it may include some recoveries by other law enforcement agencies.
