The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating a fatal crash involving a pedestrian in Northwest.
The preliminary investigation determined that on Sunday, September 1, 2024, at approximately 2:19 a.m., a pedestrian was walking westbound on the north sidewalk in the 900 block of U Street, Northwest. The pedestrian entered the crosswalk at Vermont Avenue, Northwest against the do not walk signal, when he was struck by an unknown vehicle. The vehicle did not remain on the scene of the crash and continued northbound on Vermont Avenue, Northwest.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead on the scene.
The pedestrian has been identified as 26-year-old Myles Kevin Mcewen of Northwest, DC.
