MPD Investigating Fatal Shooting

The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting in Southeast.

On Monday, August 19, 2024, at approximately 8:25 p.m., officers responded for a report of a shooting in the 3000 block of Stanton Road, Southeast. Upon arrival officers located two gunshot victims. One adult male died at the scene. The second victim was an adult male transported by DC Fire and EMS to an area hospital for treatment.  

The decedent has been identified as 19-year-old Vonte Martin of Southeast, D.C. 

This case remains under investigation. Anyone who has knowledge of this incident should take no action but call police at (202) 727-9099 or text your tip to the Department's TEXT TIP LINE at 50411. The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for a homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
