MPD Investigating Fatal Shooting in Southeast

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department are investigating a homicide that occurred in Southeast.

On Sunday, July 21, 2024, at approximately 2:49 p.m., officers responded to the 2600 block of Stanton Road, Southeast, for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male inside of an apartment suffering from gunshot wounds. DC Fire and EMS personnel were summoned to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital. The victim was pronounced dead at the hospital after all lifesaving efforts failed.

The decedent has been identified at 27-year-old Stephon Clemmons, of no fixed address.

Anyone who has knowledge of this incident should take no action but call police at (202) 727-9099 or text your tip to the Department's TEXT TIP LINE at 50411. The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
