Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Seventh District announce the arrest of a man for pointing a gun at a woman in Southeast.
On Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at 5:35 p.m., the victim reported while waiting in traffic in the 2400 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue, Southeast, a man approached the victim’s vehicle and entered the vehicle from the rear door. The man then brandished a handgun and demanded the victim pull the vehicle over. The victim attempted to drive away with the suspect in the vehicle but collided with another vehicle. Once the victim’s vehicle stopped, the suspect fled the scene on foot.
On Wednesday, May 15, 2024, pursuant to a D.C. Superior Court arrest warrant, 41-year-old Jessie Smith, of Southeast, was arrested and charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (gun).
