(Washington, DC) – Every day, the Metropolitan Police Department works to recover and investigate illegal firearms in Washington D.C. In addition to our patrol officers, the Department has specialized units—such as the Gun Recovery Unit (GRU), Narcotics Enforcement Unit (NEU), and Crime Suppression Teams (CSTs)—who work tirelessly to safely and respectfully secure illegal firearms and get them off of our streets. From Monday, May 25, 2020, through Monday, June 1, 2020, MPD detectives and officers recovered 60 firearms in the District of Columbia.

Tuesday, May 26, 2020

  • A Ruger LC9 9mm caliber handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 1400 block of Columbia Road, Northwest. The following person was arrested: 26-year-old Lorenzo Patterson, of Northeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License and Possession of Unregistered Ammunition. CCN: 20-077-890

  • A .357 caliber “Ghost Gun” handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 400 block of N Street, Northwest. The following person was arrested: 25-year-old Maurice Glascow, of Northwest, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device.   • A .40 caliber “Ghost Gun” handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 100 block of Q Street, Northwest. CCN: 20-077-831

  • A Glock 19 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 1100 block of Clifton Street, Northwest. CCN: 20-077-612
  • A Taurus G2C PTIII 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 500 block of Florida Avenue, Northwest. The following person was arrested: 24-year-old Eric Brunshteyn, of San Francisco, CA, for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana.   • A Smith & Wesson 38 Master .38 caliber handgun was recovered in the 500 block of Florida Avenue, Northwest. CCN: 20-077-986

  • A Smith & Wesson SD40VE .40mm caliber handgun, a Beretta 92FS 9mm caliber handgun, and a RG Industries RG23 .22 caliber revolver (all pictured below) were recovered in the 1400 block of Cedar Street, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 19-year-old Carlo Richard General, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Device, and Possession of Unregistered Ammunition.   • An Umbrex 40XP BB gun was recovered in the Unit block of Elmira Street, Southeast. CCN: 20-078-858
  • A .357 caliber “Ghost Gun” handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 5700 block of Blair Road, Northwest. CCN: 20-078-627

  • A Glock 30 Gen4 .45 caliber handgun was recovered in the 300 block of 37th Street, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 16-year-old male juvenile, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device. The following person was arrested: 17-year-old male juvenile, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, and Alter Identification Marks of a Weapon.   • A North American Arms Guardian .32 caliber handgun was recovered in the 200 block of 35th Street, Southeast. CCN: 20-078-573
  • A Trabzon Tisas Zig 1911 .45 caliber handgun, a Hi-Point .40 caliber handgun, and a Glock 23 .40 caliber handgun were recovered in the 2900 block of Sherman Avenue, Northwest. The following people were arrested: 30-year-old Nelson Sanchez, of Alexandria, VA, 26-year-old Eliseo Ramirez, of Northeast, D.C., and 27-year-old Dennis Antonio Sanchez, of Alexandria, VA, and 29-year-old Joseph Porras, of Burke, VA, for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, and Alter the Identification Marks of a Weapon.   • A Glock 23 .40 caliber handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 1100 block of 51st Street, Northeast. The following person was arrested: 19-year-old Malachi Hardy-Riley, of Northeast, D.C., for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, and Possession of Unregistered Ammunition.   • A .45 caliber “Ghost Gun” handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 200 block of W Street, Northwest. The following person was arrested: 23-year-old Joe El Makel Brown, of Northwest, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Resisting Arrest, Contempt- Condition of Release Violation, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device.   • A Taurus G2C PT111 9mm caliber handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 300 block of 37th Street, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 19-year-old Christion Jerrell Cooper, of Northeast, D.C., for Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Device, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance, Unlawful Entry, and Carrying a Pistol without a License. CCN: 20-079-428

  • A Springfield Armory XD45 ACP .45 caliber handgun was recovered in the 2700 block of Bruce Place, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 30-year-old Kenneth Diggs, Jr., of Southeast, D.C., for Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance while Armed, Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Receiving Stolen Property, Alter Identification Marks of a Weapon, and Possession of an Open Container of Alcohol.   • A Smith & Wesson SD9VE 9mm caliber handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 1500 block of Tobias Drive, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 17-year-old male juvenile, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, National Firearms Act, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device.   • A Taurus PT145 Pro .45 caliber handgun (pictured below) was recovered in the 1400 block of Cedar Street, Southeast. CCN: 20-079-897

The following person was arrested: 39-year-old Michael Donald Ginyard, Jr., of Northeast, D.C., for Felon in Possession, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, and Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device.   • A FNH 5.7x28 caliber handgun, a BFI Windham .223 caliber rifle, a Spike ST15 rifle, and a Cage NDS-M92 7.62x39 caliber rifle were recovered in the 1500 block of Wisconsin Avenue, Northwest. CCN: 20-080-807
  • A Kimber Pro Carry II .45 caliber handgun was recovered in the 1500 block of Anacostia Avenue, Southeast. The following person was arrested: 27-year-old Delonte Samuel, of Northeast, D.C., for Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Obliterate, Remove, Change, or Alter the Serial Number of a Firearm.   • A Stoeger E.R. Amantino 12 gauge shotgun, a Stevens Savage 30-30 rifle, a Wolverine .50 caliber rifle, a Mossberg 535 12 gauge shotgun, and a Daisy Powerline 880 BB gun were recovered in the 1100 block of 17th Street, Northwest. CCN: 20-081-240
  • A RG .22 caliber revolver was located in the 2600 block of 16th Street, Northwest. The following person was arrested: 17-year-old male juvenile, of District Heights, MD, for Carrying a Pistol without a License and Possession of an Open Container of Alcohol. CCN: 20-081-596
  • A Taurus G2C .40 caliber handgun was recovered in the 900 block of Massachusetts Avenue, Northwest. The following person was arrested: 23-year-old Lamin Cisse, of Hyattsville, MD, for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, and Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, and Curfew Violation.   • A Sig Sauer 9mm caliber handgun was recovered in the 1700 block of 28th Street, Southeast. The following people were arrested: 21-year-old Tyrek Hudson, of Southeast, D.C., for Carrying a Pistol without a License, Possession of Unregistered Ammunition, Possession of an Unregistered Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Unlawful Discharge of a Firearm, and Possession of a Controlled Substance. It is one of MPD’s main goals to safely remove illegal firearms from DC streets to reduce crime and the fear of crime in the community. The responsibility to recover firearms falls on the -shoulders of all MPD officers. We also thank members of the community for their help in creating safe neighborhoods.

 

The Metropolitan Police Department also recovers firearms with the assistance of anonymous tips made through MPD’s anonymous tip line. Anyone who has information regarding gun recoveries should call police at 202-727-9099. Additionally, information July be submitted to the TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411. The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $2,500 to anyone who provides information that leads to the recovery of an illegal firearm hidden in the District of Columbia.
