Third District Commander Sean Connors

Sean Connors has served as commander of the Metropolitan Police Department’s Third District since May 2025, when he was promoted to the position by Chief of Police Pamela A. Smith. 

Commander Connors, who joined MPD as a patrol officer in 2009, developed his policing and leadership skills through a variety of assignments across the Police Department, earning promotions and acclamations along the way. His assignments included service on a Crime Suppression Team that used crime-density analysis to address robberies and recover illegal firearms. 

Connors also serves on a citywide Robbery Intervention and Prevention Unit that sharply reduced the number robberies in target locations, arrested several repeat offenders, and recovered a large quantity of illegal firearms 

Rising through the ranks, Connors supervised a Civil Disturbance Unit following promotion to sergeant; oversaw day-to-day operations of a Patrol Services Area as a lieutenant; served as the Intelligence Division liaison to the National Capital Region Threat Intelligence Consortium; and manage the Violent Crime Suppression Division's Operation Branch. Other posts included assistant director of the Metropolitan Police Academy and inspector of the Fourth District Substation. 

Commander Connors is a graduate of Frostburg State University.
