Weekend Traffic Advisory for Multiple Events

The Metropolitan Police Department and the Department of Transportation wish to inform the public of multiple events scheduled for this weekend including the Tour De Cure and the Barracks Row Fall Festival both on Saturday, September 27 and the Turkish Festival on Sunday, September 28, 2014.

Tour De Cure

On Saturday, September 27, 2014, the Tour De Cure event will take place in the District of Columbia.  In conjunction with this event, there will be several street closures that motorists should take into consideration:

Saturday, September 27, 2014  From 12:01 AM to 5:00 PM

  • Pennsylvania Avenue NW from 14th Street to 12th Street, NW
  • 13th Street, NW from E Street, NW to Pennsylvania Avenue, NW

The following course route will closed on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at 5:00 AM, and will reopen at approximately 10:00 AM:

TOUR DE CURE - Route

13-Mile Route:  7:30AM Start  

•             START - 1200 block of PA Avenue

•             Proceed Eastbound on PA Avenue

•             Turn Right onto 9th Street to the 9th St Tunnel to  ramp for Maine Avenue

•             Bear Right towards 395 exit/Richmond

•             At top of ramp, bear Right towards Maine Avenue

•             Take sharp Left onto Ohio Drive (against traffic)

•             Slight left to continue onto Ohio Drive (against traffic) 

•             Proceed around Haines Point and West to Erickson Circle

•             Cross Independence to North onto 23rd Street (against traffic)

•             Bear Left onto Memorial Bridge (against traffic)

•             Clockwise around Memorial Circle-back across Memorial Bridge (against traffic)

•             Bear left onto Parkway Drive (past volleyball courts)

•             Right at the courts onto Ohio Drive

•             Bear sharp Left - counter flow Potomac River Freeway

•             Proceed up the right ramp and bear left onto Whitehurst Freeway

•             Continue to end of Whitehurst (against traffic) to M Street

•             U-Turn at M Street returning back onto Whitehurst

•             Return counter flow on Whitehurst (against traffic)

•             Bear left onto ramp to Potomac River Freeway (prior to K Street exit)

•             Continue counter flow onto Ohio Drive to sharp left onto Ramp: VA, Memorial Bridge

  Arlington Cemetery Ramp

•             Continue on ramp to Lincoln Memorial Circle

•             Continue counter flow to 23rd Street (against traffic)

•             Bear left onto 23rd Street (counter flow) to Independence Avenue

•             Left onto Independence Avenue to 15th Street

•             Turn Left on to 15th Street

•             Turn right onto Madison Drive

•             Turn left onto 14th Street

•             Turn right onto Constitution Avenue

•             Turn Left onto 10th to Pennsylvania Avenue

•             Left onto Pennsylvania to Finish at 12th on PA Avenue

**During the race, the 9th Street Tunnel will be closed to all traffic, and the 12th Street Tunnel will be closed to all traffic.

Suggested alternate routes for travel into the District of Columbia:

  • Constitution Avenue, NW from the Theodore Roosevelt Bridge
  • Interstate I-395 to the 3rd Street Tunnel
  • 7th Street Corridor from Maine Avenue, SW to Constitution Avenue, NW

Barracks Row Fall Festival 

On Saturday, September 27, 2014, the Barracks Row Fall Festival will take place on 8th Street SE.  In conjunction with this event, there will be several street closures that motorists should take into consideration:

The following streets will be closed from 6:00 am until approximately 6:00 pm:

  • 8th Street SE will be closed from E Street to I Street SE
  • G Street SE will be closed from 7th Street to 9th Street SE

 

Turkish Festival

On Sunday, September 28, 2014, the 2014 Turkish Festival will take place in the District of Columbia.  In conjunction with this event, there will be several street closures that motorists should take into consideration:

The following streets will be closed from 4:00 am until approximately 11:00 pm:

  • Pennsylvania Ave NW between 14th Street NW and 12th Street NW
  • 13th Street NW between Pennsylvania Ave NW and E Street NW

All street closures and listed times are subject to change based upon prevailing or unexpected conditions.

Motorists could encounter possible delays if operating in the vicinity of this event and may wish to consider alternative routes.  The Metropolitan Police Department and the D.C. Department of Transportation also wish to remind motorists in the vicinity of this event to proceed with caution as increased pedestrian traffic can be anticipated.
