Weapons Taken Off DC Streets

The Metropolitan Police Department has announced that two weapons have been taken off the streets of the <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /?>District of Columbia.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /?>

At approximately 8:05 pm, on Monday, March 16, 2009, members assigned to the department’s Third District responded to a residence located in the 3500 block of Hartford Place, NW for the report of a burglary. As a result of this investigation, an air pistol was recovered.  The suspect in this case was charged with “Burglary One” and other gun related charges.   

At approximately 8:20 pm, on Monday, March 16, 2009, members assigned to the department’s First District were investigating the report of a vehicular hit and run located at 1st and I Streets, NW. During the course of the investigation, they recovered a handgun with several live rounds of ammunition. No arrest has been made in this case, which remains under investigation.
