Updated Video Person of Interest Sought in a Homicide: 800 Block of Xenia Street, Southeast

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department's Homicide Branch seek the public's assistance in identifying and locating a person of interest in a fatal shooting which occurred on Tuesday, December 27, 2016, in the 800 block of Xenia Street, Southeast.

At approximately 1:18 pm, members of the Seventh District received a call for the report of the sounds of gunshots.  Upon arrival on the scene, officers located an adult male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.  DC Fire and EMS personnel transported the victim to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.

The decedent was identified as 22-year-old Herbert Dowtin, of Southeast, DC.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.  Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the police at 202-727-9099.  Additionally, anonymous information may be submitted to the department’s TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411.
