Triple Shooting in the 4200 Block of Sixth Street, SE, Results in One Homicide

The Metropolitan Police Department is currently investigating a triple shooting in the 4200 block of Sixth Street, SE, that has left one man dead.

At approximately 10:45 pm on Tuesday, September 30, 2008, officers from the Seventh District responded to the 4200 block of Sixth Street, SE, for the report of a shooting.  Upon arrival, officers discovered three adult males inside of an apartment stairwell at that location suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. One of the victims was transported by DC Fire Department ambulance to an area hospital and admitted in stable condition. A second victim suffered an apparent graze wound and reportedly refused treatment.  The third victim was transported to an area hospital and subsequently pronounced dead at 12:25 am.

The decedent in this case has been identified as 47-year-old Ricardo Francis of the 2400 block of 18th Street, SE.

The names of the surviving victims are being withheld as they are considered to be witnesses in this case.

This case remains under investigation by detectives from the department’s Homicide and Sexual Offense Branch and the Seventh District. The Metropolitan Police Department is currently offering a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
