Traffic Fatality: South Dakota Avenue and V Street, NE

On Sunday, July 16, 2006, at approximately 5 am, a 1996 Oldsmobile Cutlass being operated by 24-year-old Glenn Brown, of the 4000 block of 70th Avenue in Landover Hills, Maryland, was traveling southbound on South Dakota Avenue, NE. It is reported that a 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier, being operated by 41-year-old Cynthia Vines, of the 3200 block 32nd Avenue in Temple Hills, Maryland, was attempting to enter South Dakota Avenue from New York Avenue, NE.  The Chevrolet was attempting to cross over South Dakota Avenue onto V Street, NE, when it was struck by the Oldsmobile, causing the Cavalier to flip over several times before it came to rest in the southbound lane of South Dakota Avenue, NE.

DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel responded to the scene, but found no signs consistent with life.  Ms. Vines was transported to the DC Office of the Chief Medical Examiner and pronounced dead.  Mr. Brown was transported to the Prince George's Hospital Center and admitted with non-life threatening injuries.


The case is under investigation by members of the MPDC's Major Crash Investigations Unit.
