Traffic Fatality: John Phillip Sousa Bridge, Southeast

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Major Crash Unit are investigating a traffic fatality which occurred on the John Phillip Sousa Bridge, Southeast.

On Friday, February 14, 2014 at approximately 5:45 am, a 2006 Chevrolet truck was traveling westbound when it struck a pedestrian walking in the right lane of the roadway.  The driver of the truck remained on the scene. The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead on Monday, February 17, 2014.

The decedent has been identified as 61 year-old Joseph Brown, of Southeast, DC.

This crash is currently under investigation.
