Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Major Crash Unit are investigating a traffic fatality which occurred in the intersection of 5th and Harvard Streets, NW.
On Tuesday, April 30, 2013, at approximately 1:26 am, a 2001 Dodge Durango was traveling eastbound on Harvard Street, NW attempting to turn onto 5th Street, NW. The weather was rainy and the street was wet. The driver failed to make the turn, travelled off the street, where it struck a number of fixed objects and overturned. Personnel from DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services extracted the driver from the vehicle.
The driver, 38-year-old Paul Henry Rondelli of Brentwood, Maryland, was transported to a local hospital in an unconscious state. On Sunday, May 5, 2013, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
This case is currently under investigation.
