Traffic Fatality 33rd Street and Wisconsin Avenue, NW

An 11-year-old male pedestrian died of his injuries.

The Metropolitan Police Department’s Major Crash Unit is investigating a traffic fatality which occurred at <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /?>33rd Street and Wisconsin Avenue NW.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /?>


On Sunday, July 11th, 2010, shortly after 6:00 pm, Second District Officers responded to 33rd Street and Wisconsin Avenue NW for the report of an automobile crash. Upon arriving they discovered that a juvenile had been struck by a 2006 Toyota Corolla. The driver, a 21 year-old female and a female passenger, remained on the scene. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel transported the child to a local area hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.


The decedent is identified as 11 year-old Zachary Hodges.


There were no reports of injuries for the operator or passenger of the Toyota Corolla.


The investigation is ongoing.
