Detectives with the Metropolitan Police Department’s Major Crash Investigations Unit are investigating a fatal traffic crash that occurred on Saturday, June 23, 2018, in the 300 block of H Street, Northeast.
The preliminary investigation revealed that at approximately 9:35 pm, a bicyclist was operating a bicycle traveling eastbound in the street car lane in the 300 block of H Street, Northeast. The bicyclist’s tire was caught in the street car rail, causing the bicyclist to fall into the path of a charter bus. The charter bus was also traveling eastbound on H Street, Northeast and struck the bicyclist. DC Fire and EMS transported the bicyclist to a local hospital for treatment, where he succumb to his injuries.
The decedent has been identified as 19-year-old Malik Habib, of Northeast.
