Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s (MPD) Major Crash Unit are investigating a fatal traffic accident that occurred on Thursday, April 20, 2017 at approximately 2:01 am.
The driver of a silver Volkswagon Golf started to pull away from the curb, after being parked on the east side of the 2100 block of 8th Street, Northwest, when he realized he struck something. After using his mirrors to look behind the vehicle, the driver noticed an individual lying in the street. The driver stayed on scene and called 9-1-1. DC Fire and EMS transported the pedestrian to an area hospital where he was listed in critical condition.
On Friday, April 21, 2017, the pedestrian, identified as 33-year-old Clinton Norman of Brooklyn, New York, died from his injuries.
