TRAFFIC ADVISORY: Cherry Blossom Parade

The Metropolitan Police Department and the Department of Transportation would like to inform the public of street closures and Emergency No Parking in conjunction with the Cherry Blossom Parade.

 

On Saturday, April 14, 2018, the following streets will be closed from approximately 3:30 am to 3:00 pm:

 

· 4th Street and 7th Street, between Constitution Avenue, NW, and Independence Avenue, SW

 

On Saturday, April 14, 2018, the following streets will be closed from approximately 9:00 am to 3:00 pm:

 

· Constitution Avenue between 6th Street, NW, and 23rd Street, NW

· 9th Street between Pennsylvania Avenue, NW, and Constitution Avenue, NW

· 10th Street between Pennsylvania Avenue, NW, and Constitution Avenue, NW

· 12th Street between Pennsylvania Avenue, NW, and Independence Avenue, SW

· SE/SW Freeway-Access to 12th Street Tunnel from I-395 ramp

· 14th Street between North Pennsylvania Avenue, NW, to Independence Avenue, SW

· Inbound I-395(14th Street Bridge). All traffic will be sent eastbound on I-395 SW Freeway

· 17th Street between New York Avenue, NW, and Independence Avenue, SW

· 19th Street between E Street, NW, and Constitution Avenue, NW

· Virginia Ave, NW, between 20th Street, NW, and Constitution Avenue, NW

 

The streets above will have Emergency No Parking for the duration of the closures.

 

The public should expect parking restrictions along the entire parade route and should be guided by the posted emergency no parking signage. The public should also expect enforcement of these parking restrictions which may include ticketing and towing along the entire parade route.

 

Motorists traveling in the area of this event may experience delays and should consider alternative routes, if possible. The Metropolitan Police Department and the DC Department of Transportation would like to remind motorists to pay full attention whenever operating any motor vehicle and to be mindful of heavy pedestrian traffic that may be associated with special events. These street closings are subject to change without notice based upon unanticipated events and prevailing conditions
