On Monday, January 16, 2017, the 11th Annual MLK Parade will take place in the District of Columbia. In conjunction with this event, there will be several street closures that motorists should take into consideration:
On Monday, January 16, 2017, the following streets will be closed from 11:30 am to 2:00 pm for the parade route:
- Parade will begin at the R.I.S.E. Center located on St. Elizabeth Campus.
- Travel northbound on Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue, Southeast to Good Hope Road, Southeast.
- West on Good Hope Road to Anacostia Drive, Southeast to Anacostia Park where they will disband on United States Park Police Territory.
All street closures and listed times are subject to change based upon prevailing or unexpected conditions. Motorists could encounter possible delays if operating in the vicinity of this event and may wish to consider alternative routes. The Metropolitan Police Department and the D.C. Department of Transportation also wishes to remind motorists in the vicinity of this event to proceed with caution as increased pedestrian traffic can be anticipated.
