Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch have announced a third arrest in a fatal shooting which occurred in the 600 block of N Street, Northwest on Wednesday, August 3, 2016.

At approximately 10:04 pm, members of the Third District responded to a call for a shooting. Upon arrival, members located two adult males suffering from gunshot wounds. Both victims were transported to area hospitals, where the first victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. The second victim was admitted in stable condition.

The decedent has been identified as 19-year-old Derryk Johnson, of Northwest, DC.

On Sunday, August, 7, 2016, pursuant to a DC Superior Court arrest warrant, members of the First District Crime Suppression Unit arrested a 19-year-old male of Southwest, DC. He is being charged with First Degree Felony Murder.

On Tuesday, August, 9, 2016, pursuant to a DC Superior Court arrest warrant, members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested 19-year-old Marc Butler of Suitland, MD.  He is being charged with First Degree Felony Murder while Armed.

On Wednesday, August 10, 2016, pursuant to a DC Superior Court arrest warrant, members of the Criminal Investigation Division, Major Violators Section, Fugitive Unit transported 29-year-old William Cunningham, Jr. from an outside jurisdiction to the Homicide Branch where he is being charged with First Degree Felony Murder while Armed.
