Taxicab Robbery Suspect Sought

Taxicab Robbery Suspect SoughtAt approximately 8:50 pm on Thursday, January 5, 2006, a subject entered a taxicab at 16th and Van Buren Streets, NW, and asked the driver to take him to the 700 block of Marietta Place, NW. While in the 800 block of Marietta Place, NW, the subject demanded and received cash from the cab driver before making good his escape. The driver was not injured.

The suspect in this case is described as a black male, 35-40 years old, 6'0 - 6"1 tall, with a medium to dark complexion. He was last seen wearing a three-quarter length brown leather coat, tan pants and a black and grayish-brown skull cap.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to call police at (202) 727-9099. The department currently offers a reward of up to $5,000 to anyone who provides ifnormation that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any robbery committed in the District of Columbia.
