Tanner Place Murder Closed

Metropolitan Police Department detectives assigned to the investigation into the fatal shooting of Bernadette Hamilton closed the case with the arrest of a suspect identified as the victim’s estranged husband. The suspect, 36-year-old Myrone Williams, of the 1400 block of Bruce Place, SE, was arrested today, without incident, not far from the scene of the crime.  He has been charged with First Degree Murder while Armed and is scheduled to be arraigned tomorrow in D.C. Superior Court.

On Saturday, March 22, 2008, at approximately 12:32 am, police and D.C. Fire Department emergency medical personnel responded to the 1500 block of Tanner Place, SE to investigate the report of a shooting.  Upon arrival, they located 35-year-old Bernadette Hamilton, of the 1400 block of Bruce Place, SE, inside of a parked motor vehicle suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.  Emergency medical personnel could find no life signs.  Subsequently, the body of the victim was transported by morgue wagon to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for the District of Columbia.
