Suspect Sought in a Homicide: 400 Block of 2nd Street, Northwest

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch seek the public’s assistance in identifying and locating a suspect in connection to a homicide that occurred on Monday, July 2, 2018, in the 400 block of 2nd Street, Northwest.


At approximately 5:35 pm, members of the First District responded to the listed location for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, members located an adult male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported the victim to an area hospital. After all life-saving efforts failed, the victim was pronounced dead.


The decedent has been identified as 34 year-old William Mayo, of Southeast, DC.


The suspect, identified as 37-year old Reginald Johnson, is described as a black male, approximately 5’10” in height, weighing approximately 210 pounds, with green eyes and was last seen with a Mohawk style haircut.

Johnson is currently wanted on a DC Superior Court arrest warrant for First Degree Murder While Armed. He should be considered armed and dangerous. He can be seen in the photo below:

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any Homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
