The Metropolitan Police Department announces street closures for the following events in the District of Columbia:
DC Emancipation Day (April 17)
On Monday, April 17, 2006, a parade and related activities will take place as part of the DC Emancipation Day celebration. As a result of these activities, the following street closures will be in effect:

A parade will take place on <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 /?>Pennsylvania Avenue, NW, from 4th to 14th Streets, NW. Pennsylvania Avenue, NW, and intersecting streets will be closed to traffic beginning at 10 am. Streets will be reopened after the parade passes.
Pennsylvania Avenue, NW, from 12thto 14th Streets, NW, will be closed from approximately 6 am until approximately 11 pm. Motorists utilizing 12th Street or 14th Street, NW, will not be permitted to turn onto Pennsylvania Avenue, NW, during these hours.
Holistic Energy Day (April 18)
On Tuesday, April 18, 2006, various activities will be occurring on Freedom Plaza as part of GreenDC Week/Holistic Energy Day. As a result, no traffic will be permitted on E Street, NW, between 13thand 14th Streets, NW, from 6 am until approximately 9 pm. Motorists proceeding on 13th Street, NW, will be prohibited from turning onto E Street, NW from 6 am until approximately 9 pm.
