Sixth District Armed Robbery Suspects Apprehended

Two juvenile males have been arrested.

The Metropolitan Police Department has announced that two armed robbery suspects wanted in connection with three robberies of business establishments committed in the Sixth District March 29th – March 30th have been apprehended.  The suspects were taken into custody, without incident, by Sixth District officers in the 4900 block of <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /?>Brooks Street, NE on the afternoon of Wednesday, March 31, 2010. The suspects, a 16-year-old male and a 15-year-old male, have been charged with Armed Robbery in connection with the offenses listed below. Their identities are being withheld because they are juveniles.  <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /?>

  •   The Shrimp Boat Carryout, located at East Capitol Street and Benning Road, NE, which was robbed at gunpoint at approximately 4:00 pm on March 29, 2010.

  •  The Menick Market, located at 4401 Nannie Helen Burroughs Avenue, NE, which was robbed at gunpoint at approximately 4:00 pm on March 30, 2010.   
  •   Tony’s Market, located at 5319 East Capitol Street, NE, which was robbed at gunpoint at approximately 10:00 pm on March 30, 2010.

No one was physically injured in these robberies.

Sixth District Commander Robert Contee said, “The closure of these robberies is a perfect example of how collaborative efforts between uniformed patrol officers and detectives can swiftly remove potentially dangerous criminals from our communities.”
