Second Arrest Made in Homicide: 400 Block of M Street, Northwest

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch have announced an arrest has been made in the fatal shooting that occurred in the 400 block of M Street, Northwest, on Friday, January 22, 2016.

On Friday, January 22, 2016, at approximately 9:52 am, members of the Third District received a call for an assault in the 400 block of M Street, Northwest. Upon arrival, they located an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound.  D.C. Fire and Emergency Services transported the victim to a local hospital for treatment where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.

The decedent has been identified as 37 year-old Matthew Shevlin of Northwest, DC.

An adult male was arrested on the scene and charged with Carrying a Pistol without a License.  Later that day, he was charged with First Degree Felony Murder while Armed.

On Saturday, April 23, 2016, at approximately 5:05 pm, 53-year-old Eugene Ledex Sherman of Southeast, DC, was arrested pursuant to a DC Superior Court arrest warrant charging him with First Degree Felony Murder.
