Public's Help Sought in Northeast Robbery Investigation

The Metropolitan Police Department is seeking the public's assistance in locating a person who may be able to assist detectives with a robbery investigation.  This person is seen on surveillance video footage lingering in the area prior to the robbery.  <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /?>


The incident took place at approximately 5:40 pm, on Wednesday, May 3, 2006, at the Money Mart checking cashing store, located at 1125 H Street, NE.  The victim reported to police that when she exited the store a man approached her from behind, placed a sharp object to her side, and snatched her purse.  He was last seen fleeing on foot southbound in the 700 block of G Street, NE.


The suspect is described as a dark complexioned black male in his early to mid 20s, 5'9" tall, with a slim build.  He was wearing a gray hooded shirt and blue jeans.


Anyone with information about this case is asked to call police at (202) 727-9099.  The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $5,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any robbery committed in the District of Columbia.
