Person of Interest Sought in a Homicide: 1600 Block of Benning Road, Northeast

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch seek the public's assistance in identifying and locating a person of interest in a fatal shooting that occurred in the 1600 block of Benning Road, Northeast on Tuesday, January 24, 2017.


At approximately 2:40 pm, members of the Fifth District responded to the listed location for the report of the sounds of gunshots. Upon arrival, members located an adult male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to a local hospital where all lifesaving efforts failed and he was pronounced dead.


The decedent has been identified as 35-year-old Willie Starkey, of Northeast, DC.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
