Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Major Crash Unit are investigating a pedestrian fatality which resulted from a traffic collision in the 2800 block of Georgia Avenue, NW.
On Tuesday, February 12, 2013, units from the Third District responded to a pedestrian traffic collision with injury, which occurred at approximately 10:00 am in the 2800 block of Georgia Avenue, NW. A white 2001 Dodge Ram was traveling northbound in the 2800 block of Georgia Avenue, NW. As the driver of the Dodge was making a right turn onto Harvard Street, NW, she struck a pedestrian who was walking in the crosswalk. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported the pedestrian to an area hospital, where she was admitted in critical condition and later succumbed to her injuries.
The decedent has been identified as 94 year-old Aidah Sabir-Jenkins of Northwest, Washington, DC.
the driver of the striking vehicle remained on the scene and was cited.
