Pedestrian Fatality Victim Has Been Identified

A 78-year-old man was fatally struck by a vehicle.

The Metropolitan Police Department has announced that the victim of the pedestrian fatality that occurred at <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /?>34th Street and Cleveland Avenue, NW, has now been identified.  The victim in this case has been identified as 78-year-old Donald Skelley of the 3300 block of Cathedral Avenue, NW. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /?>

On Saturday, November 14, 2009, at approximately 7:15 pm an adult male was reportedly attempting to cross the intersection at 34th Street and Cleveland Avenue, NW, when he reportedly stopped in the roadway for reasons unknown and was subsequently struck by a 1995 Subaru Legacy traveling in a northwest bound direction on Cleveland Avenue, NW.  The victim was transported to the WashingtonHospitalCenter’s Med Star Unit where he was admitted in critical condition. On Monday, November 16, 2009, he succumbed to his injuries as a result of this accident and was pronounced dead.
