MPD Officer Involved Shooting: 3700 Block of 1st Street, Southeast

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Internal Affairs Bureau are investigating an Officer Involved Shooting that occurred in the 3700 block of 1st Street, Southeast, on Tuesday, June 12, 2018.

A preliminary investigation revealed at approximately 7:12 p.m., uniformed patrol officers from the 7th District observed a person they believed to be in possession of a firearm. This person ran away from the officers and into an alley. The officers chased after him, during the foot pursuit he produced a firearm and shot at the pursuing officers. The officers discharged their service weapon in response, striking the subject.

The suspect was pronounced dead on the scene by DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services.

The decedent has been identified as 22-year-old Marqueese Alston, of Temple Hills, MD.

A firearm was recovered from the suspect on the scene and is pictured below.

No pedestrians or officers were injured during this incident. The officers involved will be placed on administrative leave, pursuant to MPD policy.

Responding officers activated their body worn cameras. That footage is currently under review.
