MPD Officer Involved Shooting: 3700 Block of 1st Street, Southeast

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Internal Affairs Bureau are investigating an Officer Involved Shooting that occurred in the 3700 block of 1st Street, Southeast, on Tuesday, June 12, 2018.

A preliminary investigation revealed at approximately 7:12 p.m., uniformed patrol officers from the 7th District entered an alley at the location where a group of individuals were standing. When the group observed the officers they fled on foot and the officers gave chase. During the foot pursuit, one subject produced a firearm and officers discharged their service weapon, striking the subject.

The suspect was pronounced on scene by DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services.

The decedent’s identification is being withheld pending notification to next of kin.


A firearm was recovered from the suspect on the scene and is pictured below.

No pedestrians or officers were injured during this incident. The officers involved will be placed on administrative leave, pursuant to MPD policy.


Responding officers activated their body worn cameras. That footage is currently under review.
