MPD Officer Involved Shooting: 2300 Block of 15th Street, Northeast

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Internal Affairs Bureau are investigating an officer involved shooting that occurred in the 2300 block of 15th Street, Northeast, on Wednesday, May 9, 2018.


At approximately 6:51 pm, members of the DC Housing Authority Police and members of the Metropolitan Police Department  responded to the listed location after hearing the sounds of gunshots.  Upon arrival, members located an adult male subject suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.


A preliminary investigation revealed that an off duty MPD officer discharged his firearm striking the subject.  DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported the subject to an area hospital for treatment of life threatening injuries. After all life-saving efforts failed, the subject was pronounced dead.


The decedent has been identified as 24-year-old D’Quan Young, of Northeast, DC.

No pedestrians or officers were injured during this incident.  The officer involved will be placed on administrative leave, pursuant to MPD policy.


Responding officers activated their Body Worn Cameras.  That footage is currently under review.
