Media Availability: for Swearing in of Outside Law Enforcement Officers Working During the Inauguration

Statement from the Metropolitan Police Department

Thousands of officers from jurisdictions nationwide will be sworn in during a training session to work during the 56th Presidential Inauguration. The media is invited to tape/record the swearing in portion of the training. However, members of the media must depart immediately after the swearing in, as no taping/recording is allowed during the training session. Approximately 2,500 officers will be sworn in during this session.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /?>

                   during the Inauguration.                                                                                           

 

WHEN:         Monday, January 19, 2009

                   4400 Massachusetts Avenue, NW

                   Washington, DC

 

TIME:             Arrive by noon for 1 p.m. swearing in event.

All members of the media must make prior arrangements to attend this event by close of business Friday, January 16, 2009. Please e-mail names and media affiliations to [email protected]

Parking will be available at the Nebraska Ave Parking Lot. See attached map. At the event, members of the media must check in with Acting Sergeant Kenny Bryson, who may be reached by cell phone on 202-276-8493.
