At approximately 1:20 am, on Friday, December 2, 2005, Metropolitan Police were called to the 2000 block of Savannah Terrace, SE, to investigate the report of a shooting. Upon arrival officers located a victim suffering from apparent multiple gunshot wounds to the head and body. The victim was transported to Howard University Hospital, where the victim was later pronounced dead. The victim has been identified as 24-year-old Elexuis Nicole Woodland, of the 1900 block of Savannah Terrace, SE
A second victim was located nearby at a private residence suffering from a gunshot wound to the arm. He was transported to an area hospital where he was admitted. His identity is being withheld because he is a witness in the case. It appears that the shooting was the result of an attempted robbery.
The case is under investigation by members of the department's Violent Crimes Branch. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call police at (202) 727-9099.
The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
