Homicide: 700 Block of 21st Street, Northeast

 

(Washington, DC) – Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a homicide that occurred in the 700 block of 21st Street, Northeast, on Friday, February 17, 2017.

 

At approximately 12:53 pm, officers responded to the listed location for an ‘Investigate the Trouble’ call. Upon arrival, members located an adult male inside of a residence. The male was unconscious and appeared to have sustained trauma to his body. DC Fire and EMS transported the victim to an area hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.

 

The decedent’s remains were transported to the DC Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) determined the cause of death to be blunt force trauma to the body and the manner of death to be Homicide.

 

The decedent has been identified as 63-year-old Walter Mack Clark, of Southeast, DC.

 

On Friday, February 17, 2017, detectives from the Homicide Branch arrested 67-year-old Thomasine Bennett of Northeast, DC. She was charged with Assault with Intent to Kill. On Saturday, February 18, 2017, as a result of the autopsy findings, the charge against the defendant was upgraded to First Degree Murder while Armed.

 

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
