Detectives assigned to the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are currently investigating a fatal shooting from the 600 block of <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /?>Longfellow Street, NW. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /?>
On Sunday, November 29, 2009, at approximately 12:08 am, officers from the Fourth District responded to the 600 block of Longfellow Street, NW, to investigate the report of shots fired at that location. Upon arrival, officers learned that an adult male had been transported from that location to an area hospital suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
The victim was admitted in critical condition and later succumbed to his injuries at 9:25 am on Sunday, November 29, 2009. He has been identified as 23-year-old Edwin Reyes of the 5500 block of 7th Street, NW.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
