Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred on Wednesday, June 20, 2018, in the 600 block of Atlantic Street, Southeast.
At approximately 6:23 am, members of the Seventh District responded to the sound of gunshots at the listed location. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. DC Fire and EMS responded to the scene and found that the victim displayed no signs consistent with life. The victim remained on the scene until being transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
The decedent has been identified as 28 year-old Andre Simmons, Jr., of Bowie, Maryland.
The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
