Homicide at 5201 Connecticut Avenue, NW

On February 6, 2006, at approximately 11:25 am, police were called to 5201 Connecticut Avenue, NW, for the report of an unconscious person inside of the trash room at that location. Upon arrival police located 63-year-old Marcella Tighman, of the same address, in an unconscious state. There were no signs consistent with life and the victim was transported to the Office of the DC Medical Examiner where she was pronounced dead. A subsequent autopsy was performed which determined that the cause of death in this case was attributed to blunt force trauma and the manner of death was ruled a homicide.

The case is under investigation by members of the department's Violent Crimes Branch. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call police at (202) 727-9099.


The department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
