Detectives assigned to the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a fatal shooting which occurred on <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /?>Georgia Avenue, NW, on the evening of December 30, 2009. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /?>
At approximately 7:15 pm on Wednesday, December 30, 2009, officers from the Fourth District responded to the 5200 block of Georgia Avenue, NW, to investigate the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, they located an adult male suffering from apparent multiple gunshot wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services Department personnel responded to the scene, but were unable to find any signs consistent with life.
The victim who has been identified as 23-year-old Tavon Michael Borum of the 1200 block of Brentwood Road, NE, was subsequently pronounced dead on the scene by a representative from the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for the District of Columbia.

The Metropolitan Police Department is currently offering a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
